Podcast: Pages of History
On a journey through 5,000 years of Cultural History with Prof. Dr Peter Adamson
How were texts written down, preserved, and interpreted? How did textual practices, from habits of reading to formal commentary, shape the traditions of the pre-modern world? What happened when texts moved across cultural and linguistic boundaries?
Since October 2026, the Cluster of Excellence Cross-Cultural Philology has been producing its own podcast, “Pages of History”. The podcast is hosted by Prof. Dr Peter Adamson, Chair of Late Ancient and Arabic Philosophy at the LMU Munich and host of “History of Philosophy Without Any Gaps”, one of the world’s most successful history podcasts.
“Pages of History” explores different aspects of premodern philology from around the world. It also showcases cutting-edge techniques, like advances in digital editing and the processing of large amounts of data, using the tools of today to learn about the writings of the past.
The guests are experts on China, Egypt, Europe, India, and Latin America, who are either members of or visitors at the Cluster.
